I have bought one of these properties in MAG 218. I am worried about Asteco no longer taking an active involvement and more worried as I pay for the deposits if this development will ever happen. Is MAG PD a reliable developer to spend my hard earned money with?
The MAG developer is genuinely engaged in building in Dubai as evidenced by the documented progress being made on the MAG 214 tower in the Jumeirah Lake Towers development. It is documenting in photos the construction work at this site and the work appears to be progressing well. As the stated goal for completion of the project is mid-2008 the delay in construction work so far should not seriously impact this timetable. A large banner hanging above a freeway in Dubai advertising the MAG developer and their projects (including the MAG 218) can also be seen. That being said Asteco has a much bigger pressence in the local market than MAG. So with Asteco no longer playing a key role there may be some cause for concern but nothing that should sound any alarms.

I have just paid my next instalment as have many who have signed up for an apartment. Getting confirmation from MAG PDD that the transfer payments have gone through seem to take forever for them to confirm. Again, despite three repeated attempts at asking them there is still no response. I have had previous cause for concern over their lack lustre response rate despite promises from their Director General that this would poor level of customer service would not be repeated. I still am waiting for a response to a simple request - ie check and confirm they have got my next instalment - so far I am pretty disappointed with the service response of MAG PD compared to their previous handling agent Asteco. I wonder if they will bother to send us all confirmation receipts and a balance/ statement sheet of the amount deposited so far - seems simple and a basic admin function that should happen without the need to ask - shouldn't it?
Different note, love to have joined the proposed meeting but I will having just returned from the region by then it will be difficult. - Hope it goes well!

Faraz, I will be visiting the MAG PDD office tommorow (8 Nov) and will bring up your comments with whoever I'm able to speak with in the office. In fact, I'll insist on speaking with the person in charge of customer relations, if she is in the office. Then, on the 12th I will have an interview with the GM and raise the issue directly with him. I will ask that they clarify (and establish if need be) their working procedures for communicating with clients.
